This highly polished medal of 'Miraculous' is dainty in size and will make a lovely gift for someone celebrating their First Communion or Confirmation.
The Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to Saint Catherine Laboure in 1830 and requested of her to create the 'miraculous Medal'.
According to an account written by Catherine, Her vision of Mary was clothed in a robe of light and her robe had a high neck and plain sleeves. According to Catherine's notes, the medal should also have half a globe upon which Mary's feet stand, hands raised up to her waist, fingers filled with rings of different sizes giving off rays of light, and a frame slightly oval with golden letters saying, "O Mary! conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee!" Her fingers each had three rings and the largest rings emitted the most brilliant rays. She added that some of the rings did not give off rays. This necklace features many of those qualities.
Measuring 12mm x 17mm, this necklace pendant hangs from a 16 inch figaro chain (or purchase a longer one for a small extra charge) and comes complete with a silver gift box.
